Hai Long is one of the largest offshore wind developments in Asia, sited in the Taiwan Strait off Changhua County. The project comprises Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3, developed by Northland Power alongside its partners.
Its distance from shore — between 45 and 70 kilometres — places it well beyond the range of a routine day transit, which shapes everything about how marine operations are planned and how personnel reach the site.
The Taiwan Strait is a demanding environment. The north-east monsoon dominates the winter months, the typhoon season runs through summer and autumn, and the Strait carries dense commercial traffic. Weather windows are shorter than in most European sites and the margin for error in planning them is correspondingly smaller.
